Happiness

Where does happiness truly come from? Or maybe the first question we should think about is where do we think happiness comes from?

For a lot of people happiness comes from things that are tangible or create some form of pleasure in our lives. I will give you some examples. I love wild wings and whenever I go there I insist on getting 24 honey bbq boneless wings. Many people have memorized my order as well. I do that because I just think of the sweet goodness that is going to come from those wings. But even though they taste so good they are going to come out much worse later on. :-(

Another example can be much more serious. There might be a friend who does not treat you with total respect and/or they are a bad influence on you. You can be so blinded from these things because that person may make you feel good and happy. You will either realize that this is occurring and things will end badly or you won't and things will continue to get worse and will end even worse.

With either the food or the bad friend things won't end well. What if someone told you that these things were going to end bad? Would you still continue? That is when you should question your own judgement and determine if it is correct or if it is being skewed by that certain thing that is supposedly making you happy. You must reevaluate what you are doing our about to do. Otherwise you might end being very unhappy.

Now that I have given some examples it is time to ask the question, where does happiness truly come from? It has taken me a long time and a lot of living to simply realize this. No matter what the circumstance is, there is always a way to be happy. Yes it may mean you need to get rid of the thing that is supposedly making you happy in order to be even happier. The answer is The Lord! He can make every thing better and if you have something bad in your life that is taking you away from this true happiness then that thing needs to be done away with. If anyone thinks for one second that any person (other than Jesus of course) or inanimate object can bring you happiness then you are completely stupid. A great amount of maturing may happen in order to get past that simple fact.
